The great people over at CMS and Storm Gang Simulation have been rather busy creating their Hypercars and GT3 mods for rFactor 2. We have had great insight into these creations.

Simrace247.com can announce that we will be fully supporting CMS and Storm Gang Simulation moving forward into 2022 and beyond. The new World Sports Car 2022 season is one you really will want to be part of.

I (Darren) have had the pleasure of supporting CMS as a league partner through 2021 and can assure many people in the sim racing community that CMS is right up there with the best of the sim racing leagues.

If you are a fan of sim racing and want to be part of an incredible community, you really should join them.

Matthew Overton of CMS and Storm Gang Simulation gives us all the information as to what cars will be coming with the season ahead and these mods.

CMS and Storm Gang Simulation to power Hypercars and GT3 for the 2022 Season

Storm Gang Simulation is pleased to announce the launch of their latest mod for rFactor2: World Sports Car 2022.  This mod will be being launched exclusively for the 2022 VWSC and NARS racing seasons at Champion Motorsports.

Using the experience gained in their rF2 WSC 2021 mod that set an 8 manufacturer, 10 car grid in the LMH and GTE classes, the team set itself the task of staying current with real life top tier racing evolution with a Hypercar/ GT3 multiclass racing series.

Over the course of 6 months, and with not only the in-house talent but the support of over a dozen modders from across the rF2 community, a 25-car grid representing 19 different manufacturers from 7 countries was lovingly created.

A particular challenge was the development of the 15 new cars in the mod as the real life cars themselves were unveiled and evolved through the year – especially for those that are still largely developmental/conceptual.

With an unwavering passion for motorsports, the Storm Gang crew worked to recreate not only the current landscape of multiclass endurance racing by closely matching lap times and general car performance but also the future and intent of the current rulesets for IMSA and FIA’s WEC.

Within SGS, the physics for the new cars were developed by a real world racing simulation engineer to match actual car performance as closely as possible.  This work was adjusted by a professional automotive mechanic, 3D geometries created by a professional graphics artist, and BOP adjustments fueled through thousands of hours and laps turned by a team of experienced sim and real life racers.

As a result, the WSC 2022 delivers a quintessential package of cars, each with fine tuned handling characteristics that are competitive yet totally unique.  This is not a ‘league edition’ where car performance has been homologated to a single standard, but a ‘smart BoP’ that accounts for individual car strengths and weaknesses that still delivers a potentially race-winning package in the right hands!

Over the course of 2022, the two series will complete a 14 race calendar (1 pre-season and 13 championship races) from January to November visiting IMSA and WEC race locations timed to parallel the calendars of those two real life series.

Expect very close racing across both Hypercar and GT fields between Pro and Am drivers.  Teams championships and Drivers championships are all up for grabs all being broadcast live to the official CMS Youtube channel

Distribution of the mod will kick off on 20 December 2021 and the first public race, a pre-season event open to drivers considering participation in either the VWSC or NARS series, will be held 30 Dec 2100 EST.

A series-specific pre-season event will be held 6 Jan at 9pm ET and then 8 Jan at 2pm ET for NARS and VWSC respectively.  Make sure you are following the #vwsc-info channel on the CMS Discord to make sure you can access the WSC 2022 as soon as it is available and get racing!
