About Pikes Peak

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, often referred to as “The Race to the Clouds,” is one of the oldest and most prestigious motorsport events in the world, having started in 1916. It is renowned for its challenging course, which features 156 turns and ascends 4,720 feet to the summit at 14,115 feet above sea level.

But the 208 T16 is much more than just a powerful engine stuffed into a lightweight body. Its underpinnings are derived from Peugeot’s former Le Mans prototype endurance racers, incorporating pushrod suspension, vented carbon disc brakes, and an extreme aerodynamic package with a gargantuan 2-meter wide rear wing to generate downforce at high speeds. Nearly half the downforce comes from an underbody tray as well.

While based loosely on Peugeot’s humble European 208 R5 rally car, the mid-engined, all-wheel drive T16 is a radical departure and represents the extreme limits of performance possible from the small 208 platform. With the most powerful driver in Pikes Peak’s century-long history behind the wheel, the 208 T16 could reset everyone’s expectations of what’s possible in climbing racing.
