Preview: Virtual Monaco Grand Prix

While the likes of NASCAR, Formula E and Indycar have got their virtual racing act together and have put on some thrilling online races, not devoid of controversy and headlines, Formula 1 did not have the support of most of the current drivers when lockdown happened.

But after a couple of low key races, and some embarrassing production moments with the F1 Game used for by the series, the grid for today’s Virtual Monaco Grand Prix is packed with real F1 drivers as well as a some choice celebs for the pixelated race around the sport’s most glamourous track but also most treacherous.

The series uses the 2019 F1 Game by Codemasters.

We previewed the race here and now can add the schedule for the event which also includes a curtain-raiser for the pro sim racing drivers, followed by an F2 race with many current real life drivers on the grid and then the main event.

2020 Virtual Monaco Grand Prix

Race Day Schedule:

  • Takes place on Sunday 24 May 2020, starting with a Formula 2 race at 16:00 GMT, an F1 Esports Pro Exhibition Race at 17:00 GMT and the main race at 18:00 GMT
  • Watch on Sky Sports will broadcast the Virtual F1 Monaco Grand Prix and build up from 16H00 GMT on Sky Sports F1, Mix and Main Event.
  • Live stream on the Formula 1 YouTube channel.
  • Alternatively, head over to Twitch where they will also be showing live coverage of every race.
  • simRACE247.com will be hosting the race on the front page of the site.
