Logan Clampitt of California State University at Fullerton has claimed the iRacing 2024-25 eNASCAR College Series title.
A captivating battle unfolded between Logan Clampitt from California State University at Fullerton and Steven Wilson representing the University of Iowa. After a demanding 90 laps around Homestead-Miami Speedway on Tuesday night, Clampitt emerged as the winner.
In a final race where 25 skilled drivers each had an equal shot at the eNASCAR College iRacing Series championship and a substantial scholarship, Clampitt persevered against Wilson and the other 23 competitors to claim the title and the $10,000 scholarship.
“This means so much to me,” Clampitt expressed after the race. “Last year, we finished just behind Steven (Wilson), so it took a real effort this year to beat him. We did have some close racing, bumping a few times. Passing is really tough on the long runs, and I didn’t intend to cause him to hit the wall earlier.
I really wanted this victory. I can’t believe how close and exciting it was. I’m so happy we secured this win for California State University Fullerton.”
The 2024-25 eNASCAR College iRacing Series marks the fifth year of this esports competition for university and college students. It provides students from institutions across the United States and Canada with the opportunity to compete against one another using the iRacing simulation platform. The season extends throughout the academic year, from Fall 2024 to Spring 2025.
Key Features of the Series:
- Format: The season is divided into two parts, a fall and a spring semester. Each semester includes four regular races, followed by a final championship race.
- Time Attack Qualifying: For the initial eight races, drivers participate in a 10-day “Time Attack” period within iRacing. They can complete as many laps as they want, and only their fastest lap counts for qualification. The top 40 fastest drivers advance to the main race, called the “A-Main.” Additionally, 80 more drivers qualify for the “B-Main” and “C-Main” races.
- Race Structure: The A-Main races award scholarship money to the top 10 finishers. The winners of the B-Main and C-Main races receive iRacing credits. Points are given to the top 40 finishers in each A-Main race throughout the season.
- Championship Race: The top 25 drivers based on their total points throughout the season qualify for a final, winner-take-all championship race at the end of the spring semester. This last race offers a much larger scholarship prize pool.
- Vehicles and Tracks: The series uses both the NASCAR Xfinity Series cars and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series trucks. The races are held on virtual versions of well-known NASCAR tracks.
- Scholarship Prizes: A total of $60,000 in scholarships is awarded during the season. The winner of the championship race receives a $10,000 scholarship.
- Road to Pro: For the first time in the 2024-25 season, the two highest-ranking drivers in the championship race who are not already professional eNASCAR drivers will receive invitations to the second round of the 2025 eNASCAR Qualifying iRacing Series. This offers them a potential path to the professional eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series.
