Weekly blog #70
Welcome to my seventieth weekly blog!! It’s a special one, last Sunday 21-08-2022, was my first in real life race, here you can read all about it!

CC Sim Racing
On Monday 15-08-2022, was the second round of the CC Sim Racing All Women Racing Series. 2x 10 minutes races, the second race was with a reversed grid start. The first race, I started 2nd, a good start give me the lead in the race. Unfortunately, I was too slow, and couldn’t hold the lead, I finished P2. The second race was reversed grid. I struggled a bit with all the bumps, but with a great last lap, and a very good overtake in the last corner, I finished P3. Sophie is leading the championship, and I’m 11 points behind.

Volkswagen Scirocco
On Friday 19-08-2022, I drove for the first time in the Volkswagen Scirocco, at Mallory Park. Up until Wednesday evening, I never heard of this track. My first couple of laps I was very careful, didn’t know the track and car. Luckily, my second practice stint was much better, and I’ve had a better feeling for the car! Mallory Park turns out to be a great track, and I enjoyed driving it!

750 Motor Club Enduro
Sunday 21-08-2022, was a special day, I drove my first in real life race, together with Steve Crompton. The team worked very hard to get the car ready, and the stunning orange Volkswagen Scirocco was ready on Sunday morning!! Ready to make my dream come true, back racing on track! We drove the Tegiwa Club Enduro Championship, 125 minutes at Silverstone International. We didn’t know this lay-out, and also not what the car was going to do. I felt very unprepared for the practice/qualifying, I drove 8 laps, 4 of them under the safety car. I drove the first hour of the race, the start was a rolling start. We had some comms problems, and I couldn’t ask what the speed was, and I was already a bit behind when we were going out of the pitlane.

After the start I was trying to gain pace, and I needed to keep the car on the black stuff (the track). I did, after my first pitstop, Jamie strapped me better in, and I went a lot faster. Just after an hour, I came in for the pitstop and driverswap. Steve drove well, and brought the car home! It was a great feeling, celebrating with the team (who worked so hard to get the car ready), Sophie and my father, we finished our first race! We didn’t know if the car would hold it, and it did! The crew had some nervous times, but it all turned out very well! I know what I need to learn, and need to do better next time! My next race is on the 11th of September at Anglesey!
