Storm Gang Simulation Unveils WSC1985 Car Pack Mod for 2025

Champion Motorsports and Storm Gang Simulation deliver the iconic 1985 World Sportscar Championship mod pack to rFactor 2.

As the 1964 historic season concludes at Champion Motorsports (CMS), a new chapter begins with the unveiling of Storm Gang Simulations (SGS) WSC1985 car mod for rFactor 2. This mod pack, created for the 2025 Historic World Sportscar Championship, is a gift for racing fans and sim racers.

With previous creations from Storm Gang Simulation gathering great publicity in the modding sector in rFactor 2, the bar has been set for the new WSC1985 car mod pack.

WSC1985 has been recognised as the choice year that will be brought back to life for a full calendar season. The championship will be hosted by Champion Motorsports and feature all of the circuits raced during the real-World Endurance Championship in 1985.

Many tracks will get historic updates as well to match the era and each one will be raced at roughly the same time of year that it did in the original. So, expect similar weather (set to live weather for total immersion) and pacing through the season.

Jaguar XJR-6

Five cars have been specially picked from the C1 class to represent the year. These cars were chosen based on their consistency and performance through both the IMSA and WEC championships of the day.

Storm Gang Simulation has worked closely with the community modding group, ODS (Old Drivers Spirit) to bring in two of the most iconic cars of the era: The Lancia LC2 and Porsche 956. Originally created by Virtua LM and ported by the Junior team and ODS, these cars were constantly at the top of the field, trading blows. While Lancia had the power with its Ferrari engine, its reliability was no match for the dominating 956.

Aston Martin was represented by the EMKA 84c which saw the likes of Tiff Needell pilot it at that year’s Le Mans. The March 84G is also present, being one of the most stable platforms in the field and also one of the most diverse given that it housed more than a few different motors for various manufacturers in the 80’s. Last, but not least, is the Jaguar XJR-6. Jaguar is often held in high esteem for its later Group C efforts. The slick V12-powered chassis started its career in a somewhat underperforming package in the -6 and -7 variants.

Storm Gang Simulation has spent an enormous amount of time and resources building, developing and testing these cars to bring one of the most anticipated mods to life. Even going as far as preparing them so they will have the same fuel restrictions as was seen in the early days of Group C. All the cars will be Smart BoPed (performance balanced) which as SGS puts it, “…retains the original car characteristics and mannerisms while still allowing them to be competitive with each other in virtually every race setting”.

While development will still continue through 2025, these cars will be available in beta for the WSC1985 championship, exclusively at Champion Motorsports. All drivers are welcome to participate in the multiple CMS series and can download the cars for free through the CMS Discord. They even encourage drivers to join in races as it will help add more testing data and note that all talent levels are welcome and able to achieve victory thanks to the special driver classification system at CMS.

Test races will begin the month of December through January. You can find all the details at the CMS Discord or website. Or visit the Storm Gang Simulation Discord and website.
