A roadmap for Assetto Corsa Rally to off-road sim dominance

Assetto Corsa Rally has set out a clear long-term support plan that begins with monthly updates from December as the Early Access title builds towards its full release.

The commitment came directly from Supernova Games Studios Game Director Irvin Zonca during a live Q&A on the official Assetto Corsa Discord server, answering the community’s call for consistent post-launch development following the title’s release on 13 November 2025.

Zonca confirmed that the team will introduce new content, features, refinements and bug fixes in a regular rhythm, with the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 and new snowy mountain stages already earmarked for early 2026. With these additions, Assetto Corsa Rally positions itself to challenge for the top spot in dedicated rally simulation.

The project is built on the foundations of Kunos Simulazioni, whose original Assetto Corsa in 2013 established a reputation for laser-scanned tracks and uncompromised vehicle physics. Assetto Corsa Competizione followed in 2019 with official GT World Challenge licensing, while Assetto Corsa Evo in 2024 expanded the series into open road environments.

Hardcore rally fans have long voiced frustration at the lack of true simulation-focused options. Codemasters DiRT Rally 2.0 and the EA Sports WRC series deliver popular experiences but lean towards accessibility.

Supernova Games Studios, working under Digital Bros Group and in close technical partnership with Kunos, set out to fill that gap by building Assetto Corsa Rally in Unreal Engine 5 with physics built specifically for rally car behaviour across FWD, RWD and AWD drivetrains, combined with dynamic weather and professional pace note systems.

The Early Access launch arrived with 10 licensed cars ranging from the 1964 Mini Cooper S Group 2 to the 2021 Hyundai i20 N Rally2. More than 20 miles of laser-scanned stages across France, Germany and Wales complete the initial offering, supported by Events, Free Practice, Rally Weekend, Time Attack and early multiplayer.

Triple monitor support, wheel and handbrake compatibility and full settings customisation are already active. Full VR support is planned for the 1.0 release.

Community reception sets the stage for rapid updates

Assetto Corsa Rally launched at $29.99 and quickly received a Very Positive rating on Steam with more than 4,500 reviews. Early feedback highlights the satisfying handling model and immersive stage design while also requesting deeper force feedback tuning and broader peripheral support.

Zonca addressed these points directly in the Q&A: “I am happy to say that our current plan is to have monthly updates. We will start in December and then again in January. And with each update, we will introduce a mix of things. So updates may contain new content, new features, improvements of course and bug fixes.”

Zonca added that development cycles may occasionally shift timing but the intention remains continuous visible progress: “Depending on development cycles we may miss a month… but we may also double up in other months. The overall intention… is to keep progress visible and continuous.”

The December update will prioritise input systems. Zonca explained: “What we want to do is also improve the input filter… to have an option page… to fine tune the parameters as they like.” Improved wheel detection, controller responsiveness and a full input system rewrite form the core of this first patch as Supernova also prepares groundwork for future console versions.

Škoda Fabia Rally2 headlines upcoming content expansion

One of rallying’s most successful cars will join Assetto Corsa Rally in the coming updates. Zonca confirmed: “Very soon we will release the Škoda Fabia Rally2. Škoda is one of our partners. We are already working on the car… We will get one of the latest model years… not in December.”

The Fabia Rally2, a proven force in WRC2 with multiple titles in 2023 and 2025, will join the existing Hyundai i20 N Rally2 to create immediate WRC2-style competition within the sim. Zonca hinted at further modern additions saying: “I can confirm that more modern cars will be in the game… As a player, I have got this massive wishlist.”

The team also teased new “wintry mountain road” stages arriving in Q1 2026, bringing snow and mixed surface challenges inspired by events such as Rallye Monte Carlo. These will sit alongside the current gravel-heavy stage roster and expand environmental variety.

Path to version 1.0 and long-term vision

Supernova targets a full release within 18 months with more than 30 cars, approximately 130 kilometres of stages, a rally school, a career mode, expanded multiplayer and full VR support. Ongoing manufacturer discussions aim to deepen licensed content.

Community sentiment on Reddit and Overtake.gg has been strongly positive, calling ACR a fresh entry into a genre that has lacked simulation-focused depth. The active Discord and feedback channels have allowed early testers to influence development directly, particularly on force feedback behaviour and steering calibration.

Assetto Corsa Rally now moves into a structured period of rapid evolution. With a blend of iconic classics expected to return and modern rally machinery already in active production, the project follows the familiar Kunos trajectory from niche favourite to genre leader.

For dedicated rally sim players, the message is simple. The December update is close and the roadmap signals sustained momentum.
