Across four iconic circuits, Thomas Ronhaar has fought his way to the top of the 2025 F1 Sim Racing World Championship standings.
Racing to victory across multiple events, KICK F1 Sim Racing Team driver Thomas Ronhaar leads in the 2025 F1 Sim Racing World Championship. Throughout four intense races in event 2, KICK F1 Sim Racing Team experienced mixed fortunes across iconic tracks, highlighted by Ronhaar’s victory at Circuit of The Americas (COTA). Here’s how each event unfolded.
British Grand Prix: Fighting Through the Rain at Silverstone
Challenging conditions marked the Silverstone race weekend. Starting from sixth on the grid, Ronhaar faced an uphill battle while teammate Brendon Leigh lined up in 18th place during a wet qualifying session. Early race positions were lost, yet Ronhaar fought back after pit stops to secure sixth place. Unfortunately, Leigh’s race came to an early end after a late-race incident.
Belgian Drama: Podium Success at Spa
Rain continued to play a major role at Spa, ultimately working in the team’s favour. With impressive skill, Ronhaar captured pole position, as Leigh secured a strong seventh place start. During the race, spectators watched an exciting battle unfold between Ronhaar and Alfie Butcher for the lead. By the checkered flag, Ronhaar had secured third place, while Leigh earned points with a tenth-place finish.
Dutch Challenge: Strategy Pays Off at Zandvoort
Smart tire choices proved crucial around the tight Zandvoort circuit. After qualifying fifth, Ronhaar made an early switch to intermediate tires as rain began falling. Thanks to this strategic move, he climbed to second place. Following some close racing, Ronhaar secured another third-place finish. Meanwhile, Leigh struggled throughout, finishing in 18th position.
American Victory: Domination at COTA
Circuit of The Americas became the stage for Ronhaar’s finest performance. Missing pole by just 0.009 seconds didn’t stop him from taking control early in the race. Despite facing a challenging pit stop and fierce competition, Ronhaar powered through to claim victory. Further back, Leigh crossed the line in 15th place.
Drivers Quotes
Thomas Ronhaar: “What an event it has been, especially with the win at COTA which made things even sweeter. It’s always great to take home a victory, and it feels even better after some of the challenges we faced earlier in the weekend. Silverstone was a bit rough for me, but we bounced back strong in the other races, showing what we are capable of.
The team has been fantastic, and I really feel like we are improving with each event. I’m currently at the top of the standings, and the team is in P5, which is a great position to be in at this stage. But we know the job isn’t done yet — there’s still a long way to go, and we’re going to keep pushing to build on this momentum for the final event of the season”.
Brendon Leigh: “First of all – congratulations to Thomas! It’s great to see him at the top of the standings. It’s been a mixed event for me. I had some good moments and showed some pace, but overall, I didn’t bring home the results I was hoping for.
There were definitely some challenges along the way, but I’m not letting that discourage me. I’m going to keep working hard, stay focused on improving, and build on what I have learned. I know I have the potential to come back stronger in the next rounds and support the team in the top five battle, and I’m determined to make that happen.
Championship Impact
These results have pushed Ronhaar to the top of the Drivers’ Championship, while KICK F1 Sim Racing Team now holds fifth place in the team standings. Leigh currently sits in 19th position, looking to bounce back in upcoming races.
