McLaren Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo will be taking up sim racing to keep his skills razor sharp. Like his team mate Lando Norris and other F1 drivers, Virtual can help with reality.
Daniel Ricciardo, a top driver for the McLaren Formula 1 team, might start using sim racing. This is a way for drivers to practice their skills using a computer-based racing game.
In the past, Daniel said that sim racing wasn’t for him. But now, it seems he’s interested in giving it a shot.
His teammate at McLaren, Lando Norris, along with Max Verstappen from Red Bull and Charles Leclerc from Ferrari, have all been very involved in sim racing for a while now.
However, a multiple-time F1 world champion has said he doesn’t like sim racing because he can’t feel what the car is doing. Even so, he recently posted a picture on Twitter in July showing him using a simulator.
In a recent interview, Daniel Ricciardo said, “I have thought about it.” He was asked if not using sim racing could put him at a disadvantage.
Ricciardo explained, “At first, I always said I didn’t want a simulator at home because I wanted to do other things on my weekends off. These online races never really interested me.”
He continued, “But I don’t want to be closed-minded about this. It might actually be helpful. It’s something I would need to figure out.”
“It’s possible that you could learn something from it. On the other hand, you could also develop some bad habits. But Max, Lando, and Charles are very active in sim racing, so maybe it really does help.”
Ricciardo finished by saying, “It’s still not really my thing, but I’m not going to ignore it. I’m going to try it out.”
