The recent launch of F1 2020 has proven that every title is vulnerable to users looking to play the system with developers Codemasters now looking into a fresh cheating spate.

Just one day after F1 2020’s official launch on Friday, Sim Race 247 found out about two specific cheat programs spreading quickly online.

These cheats seem to focus on the newest part of the game, called My Team. In this mode, players get to create their own racing team, becoming the eleventh team on the Formula 1 grid. They then try to move up the ranks by improving their team’s headquarters, hiring better drivers, and working on research and development.

However, these cheats allow players to easily change things like their team’s money, how famous they are (acclaim), and their research points. They can also change perk boosts and multipliers.

The cheating doesn’t stop there. While racing, players using these tools can also change their engine’s power, how quickly parts wear out, how much grip their tires have, and their tire temperatures. Even the energy recovery system (ERS) can be made unlimited with one of the two cheats.

It’s reported that over 2,000 people have already downloaded these two cheat programs.

Codemasters, the company that made the game, is aware of these cheating tools. They have stated that any information about these cheats has been “passed on to the producer of the game and our development team.”

Other racing games and simulators have also had problems with cheating, especially iRacing. In iRacing’s case, these issues have significantly hurt the online and eSports scenes.

It’s not clear yet if the same thing will happen with F1 2020. Codemasters likely had some protections in place for their online services already. However, they will probably need to work on making these protections stronger if there has been a “breach.”
