iRacing Launch FIA F4 eSports Global Championship

iRacing and the FIA introduce the FIA F4 eSports Global Championship, providing a platform for aspiring sim racers to showcase their skills on a global stage.

iRacing and the FIA are pleased to announce the launch of the FIA F4 eSports Global Championship, set to begin its inaugural season this September. This new pro-level eSports series is the latest development in the successful partnership between iRacing and the FIA within the Formula 4 platform.

The championship will feature four events and eight rounds, where drivers from around the world will compete for a $25,000 prize pool. All races will be broadcast live on iRacing’s social media channels.

Tony Gardner, president of iRacing, shared his excitement about the collaboration:

“We couldn’t be more excited to work with the FIA to launch the FIA F4 eSports Global Championship. Both iRacing and the FIA are committed to helping aspiring racers break into real-world motorsport through accessible opportunities, and the Formula 4 platform is a terrific means of doing so. We look forward to an exciting season this fall, and we’re sure that the front-runners in this series will be battling once again in the upper levels of motorsport in the years ahead.”

Nikolas Tombazis, FIA Single-Seater Director, also emphasized the significance of this partnership:

“I am delighted that the FIA is again joining forces with iRacing for the next phase of this highly innovative collaboration, taking FIA F4 eSports to a global stage following great success at the regional level. This latest step in our strong partnership aligns with our strategy to foster the growth and development of eSports and, in so doing, extend the appeal of our sport to fresh audiences, with the aim of doubling global participation in motorsport.”

Since the partnership began in mid-2023, tens of thousands of drivers have participated in virtual F4 racing, honing their skills as they prepare for real-world competition. iRacing has also worked with numerous FIA national sporting authorities (ASNs) to support new sim racers and develop national championship series.

Drivers can qualify for the FIA F4 eSports Global Championship by competing in iRacing’s FIA F4 Regional Tour series during the 2024 Season 3, which starts in mid-June. The top 10 eligible drivers from each Regional Tour series will be invited to the Global Championship, ensuring a truly global field of competitors.

Doubleheader events are scheduled for September 14, September 28, October 12, and November 2, with races starting at 18:30 GMT. Track selections for each event will be announced 24 hours prior to the race, challenging drivers to adapt quickly. Additionally, drivers will compete with fixed setups to ensure a level playing field.

The launch of the FIA F4 eSports Global Championship marks a significant step forward in the world of virtual racing, offering aspiring drivers a unique opportunity to showcase their talents on a global stage.
