Reach down the back of the sofa for spare change as the James Bond Aston Martin DB5 is up for sale.

A classic 1964 Aston Martin DB5, famously associated with James Bond films “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball,” is expected to fetch nearly £500,000 at an auction by RM Sotheby’s.

Now it may not be a car that many sim racers will go out and purchase, but none the less it’s a world famous and iconic car. The auction will take place on June 12 at Cliveden House in Berkshire, with the car estimated to sell for between £425,000 and £475,000.

The DB5, described by auctioneer Peter Haynes as “one of the most recognisable cars in the world,” features a sage green exterior and reupholstered green leather interior. It is one of only 887 ever made and boasts a top speed of over 150 mph, thanks to its 4.0-litre, straight-six engine and five-speed manual gearbox.

Famous Owners

Previously owned by celebrities like Sir Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger, the car was originally delivered to Brooklands of Bond Street in 1964 and later moved to South Africa before returning to the UK in 1991.

In the James Bond films, the DB5 was famously equipped with gadgets like machine guns, an ejector seat, and a retractable bulletproof screen, although these are not standard features on the production models.
