Igor Fraga claims first win in Super Formula Lights Series at Sugo

Driving sensation and hardcore sim racer Igor Fraga has won his first Super Formula Lights Series at Sportsland Sugo.

We knew it was a moment of when, not if with Brazilian sim racing and Super Formula Lights racer Igor Fraga as he took his first win at the fantastic Sportsland Sugo Circuit. It was round 6 of the Super Formula Light Series where the Brazilian took the winner’s trophy with a moral boosting drive. Fraga also took second place in Round 4 held during the same weekend, securing a podium finish and moving him up to 4th in the overall standings.

Super Formula Lights: Omura Fraga stood on the top step after a 19 lap race. It was a delightful first victory in the Super Formula Lights. Trulli and Koide, who also finished on the podium for the first time, took third place for the second consecutive race. Nonaka finished fourth, followed by Yui Tsutsumi (Rn-sports F2), who scored his first point, fifth. DAVID BIDARES (B-MAX RACING 2) WAS SIXTH.

About Igor Fraga

Since moving on from karts, his rise has been spectacular winning the Brazilian Formula 3 Championship in 2017 and achieving four wins and placing third in the European F3 Championship in 2019. In 2020, Fraga won the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand, defeating current F1 driver Yuki Tsunoda on the way.

 

Fraga is also a passionate racing game player and has played them since he was a small child. In 2018, he won the inaugural FIA Gran Turismo Nations Cup e-Motorsport event. He would again be crowned world champion in 2019 and 2021, this time representing Toyota in the Manufacturer Series of the same competition. Fraga is a racing driver who continues to steer between the real and the virtual worlds of motorsports.
