Top 5 on the grid

  1. #19 P. Kraus
  2. #96 Van De Sandt
  3. #24 Morgan
  4. #8 Taylor
  5. #5 Beard

Its that time again, we have 31 cars lined up on the formation lap behind the pace car, green flag, let’s go for 51 laps. Van De Sandt gets it wide and goes onto the grass, he brings it back onto the track, is everything ok? So far he has only lost a few positions, but disaster, he overcooks it with the throttle, spins it and damages the car as he plummets down the leaderboard and then enters pit road.

Meanwhile, Chin is all over Otis in P6 and looking to pass with some brave moves. Kraus is leading by 0.8 over Morgan, and Harrington pushes up to 4th. An eventful opening few laps with drivers driving at high speed with the elbows really out, Mosport is a great circuit. Harrington is making moves and punches up to 3rd, the gap to Kraus in the lead, 3 seconds, he has got his plane ticket and ready for the jet set.

Lap 10 Top 10

  1. Kraus
  2. Morgan
  3. Harrington
  4. Taylor
  5. Beard
  6. Otis
  7. Chin
  8. Pinheiroo
  9. Bomersbach
  10. Maleczka

No doubt this is an eventful race, Kraus has eased the pace a little as the gap is starting to come down gradually. Throughout the pack we are seeing great battles and drives from many of the racers, Lionheart is an incredible league with such talent and organization. Beard in P5 is doing a Stella job on track, he has lots of pressure from drivers behind, but holding his own as he nails every corner and apex in a defensive manner and keeps the speed up, great stuff. Morgan in P2 is pushing hard and trying to close in on Kraus, every time he makes a gain, Kraus responds.

Morgan jumps into the pits at the end of lap 19, Beard, Taylor and Otis follow suit from the top runners with others throughout the pack further down opting to come in, here we go, the pit stop shuffle. Kraus, Harrington, Chin and Pinheiroo have stayed out, this is going to be interesting. Morgan has lost it on cold tires through Quebec, what a shocker, he was in great contention but may have been pushing too hard after his pit stop. Beard in P5 is on a mission, he is in the groove for sure and looking consistently fast and defensive.

Lap 25 Top 10

  1. Kraus
  2. Harrington
  3. Taylor
  4. Chin
  5. Beard
  6. Otis
  7. Calisto
  8. Pinheiroo
  9. Bomersbach
  10. Maleczka

We are at the halfway mark of the race, and boy it is a good one, no yellow flags, elbows out racing, with cars and drivers pushing really hard as they slide the back end out, quality. Blocker has now entered the top 10 and setting some consistently fast laps. Meanwhile, out front, Kraus is leading by 5.5 seconds and Harrington has a gap over Chin in third by 3.5 seconds, with Taylor lurking. Beard in 5th needs an award for the most defensive driver, as no one shall pass him. If Blocker continues with this pace, he will be carving his way through the pack, he is now up to P9 and closing in on Pinheiroo fast. Mussleman and Huston have a huge crash down the Andretti straight, they make contact and eat the wall, we remain green and Blocker enters the pits and exits in P19.

Otis is chewing at the heels of Beard for P5, we know Beard has been the definition of defensive driving in this race thus far, Otis will need to get creative. We start to see some of the drivers come into the pits at the end of lap 38 and so on.

Lap 43 top 10

As we the final phase of the race, it’s there for the taking for Kraus, he has a 10 second lead over Harrington. Pinheiroo almost drives into the back of Otis, but that was not a problem, what follows is edge of the seat racing. Pinheiroo goes for the move on Otis down the straight and swings around him, two wide, Pinheiroo then mounts an attack on Beard, supreme driving from the Brazilian. Otis gets the move done on Beard, Blocker comes out of nowhere and passes Beard, wow what a move, Beard is struggling on the red tires, Calisto goes in hot into the corner and runs wide, drama and exciting racing. Pinheiroo gets it done and passes Taylor and for P4, wow it is now lap 50, what an exciting phase of the race.
