Women in sim racing continues with our resident female sim racing blogger Yvonne Houffelaar. This week in blog #64 we catch up with her sim racing events and more.

Welcome to my sixty-fourth blog!!

I’m back!
After a few very exhausting and exciting weeks I’m back! It cost me a lot of energy, and I didn’t drive many sim races, but that’s going to change a little bit! I will drive a bit more sim racing. I aim for 2 or 3 sim races in a week if I’m not racing in real life! The last few weeks were very exciting, and I will give you an update later in this blog!

PL4YR Red Bull x Endurance
The final round from the PL4YR Red Bull x Endurance, 1.5 hours at Monza (without chicane). No first chicane, that made it very interesting, I was very used to the first chicane because of races in the past. I drove the Red Bull Junior, a bit slower and a loose car. I had a good pace, and I won the race in my class! I finished 4th in the championship! I’m very happy with P4 in the championship. When this championship started, I wasn’t driving in Gran Turismo Sport (GTS) yet. I missed the first 4 races, all the races that I drove, I finished at the class podium!!

RCI World Tour Qualifying
On Saturday 02-07-2022, I drove the qualifying for the RCI World Tour! The final round is at Zolder, and we are driving with Bernadette (the Bentley). I was a bit out of practice when I didn’t have a rig in NL, I didn’t drive on Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC). Now I have a rig in NL, thanks to R8G ESports, and I’m back on ACC! I did lots of practice, to be on pace, and that paid off! I drove a good qualifying, and I needed to drive for the first time at the Super Pole. The Super Pole is for the top 10 in qualifying! My fault is that I closed the brake ducts too much, for the Super Pole, and in my one and only lap, I drove with red brakes after 3 corners. I still drove a decent lap, and we are starting at P7 and P4 in our class! The race is Saturday 08-07-2022, 10 hours at Zolder. I drive together with April Carlsvard, and it’s gonna be a long race together, but I’m looking forward to it!!

Racing update
I passed my ARDS test, and in 10 seconds out of the car test! This means I have my racing license! On Tuesday 05-07-2022, I drove at Brands Hatch! Which was amazing, uphill and downhill, with great corners!! The first time that I drove there in real life, and I’m looking forward to driving there more! It went very well, and I was driving alone on the track, without an instructor! I’m getting more on pace, and my next track day is Tuesday 12-07-2022, for the first time at Oulton Park! After Oulton Park, Sophie is going to help me with some videos to share with all of you! I’m very busy with racing in real life because my first race is 31th of July, 750 Enduro at Snetterton! I want to be very well prepared, which means lots of practice on track and in the sim! I’m looking forward to the upcoming weeks and the first race!!
