As 38 drivers lined up in formation for the big event, a penny for the thoughts of many drivers as the biggest challenge and prize awaits as an IndyCar sim racing driver. Here we go, pace car pulls in, green flag. Kraus leads the field and a clean start by all as lap 1 ticks by, Maleczka switches positions with Kraus in the early stages, and Fowler makes another masterclass save. Some great driving in the opening stages of the race as drivers try to assert their position and pursue. Maleczka, Kraus and Pinheiroo are starting to pull away from Newsome in P4, only by half a second, but nonetheless.

15 laps have passed and the nerves have settled, this is going to be a long haul for the drivers, and settling into a rhythm is extremely important. We are starting to see some gaps forming as the pace settles to the driver’s liking. Maleczka and Kraus are starting to break away from Pinheiroo in third as they switch up positions for the lead and use the draft effect with each other to keep the momentum. At the end of lap 29, the front duo comes into pit road for the first of many stops, Kraus drops anchor with a plume of tire smoke, but no drama. Back out on track, Pinheiroo and Newsome circulate in the front positions, and other drivers start to come in at the end of lap 32.
