The long awaited and anticipated VRC F1 2022 Formula Alpha Assetto Corsa Mod is finally here, but is it any good?

This is a car that is not rushed with a decision, the VRC F1 2022 Formula Alpha Assetto Corsa Mod is something you need to take your time with to fully appreciate it. I have tested many mods in the sim racing community, some are instant gratification whereas others you have to understand the car and its psychics, etc. My first impression of the vehicle is its radical design, with aero everywhere and subtle curves that give it a nice aesthetic appearance it is instantly recognisable from previous generations of cars. One thing I have always had an issue with the modern day F1 cars is the sheer size of them, but that’s how it is and that’s that, not a flaw in the design by VRC, but by default for the current generation of F1 cars.

The cockpit is as you would expect, compact, but with great visibility and function. The sound is nice with cracks and backfires and plenty of modern day sounds emitted from the current generation of F1 cars. How is it to drive? Well, it requires a certain type of driving skill, like all cars. If you want to jump into this car mash the throttle and attack the track, then ok. But like all F1 cars they have a required finesse, you see you will think you are fast, but once you dial into the car’s characteristics, you will be even quicker. I recommend adjusting your driving style to suit this car, thank me later.

  • Is the car worth it? Yes absolutely
  • Are these my thoughts and opinions based on experience? Yes
  • Has VRC given me this car for free to review: No
  • Always leave constructed feedback to the developers for this and future builds

  • Around 1000hp + 160hp from electric powertrain
  • 719kg car weight

Gaming mods are a vital core part to the gaming industry, Assetto Corsa would not be the sim racing title it is today without them, F1 has seen its best sim racing cars through mods as well. Titles like rFactor and the Automobilista series have also had their fair share. When we see some of the great creations of cars, tracks, sounds and so much more, we really see how great the sim racing mod community is. Driven by passion and the need to create, the modding community shows some of the greatest designs in the sim racing genre.
