HyperX Quadcast S Mic Simrace247 Review

The HyperX Quadcast S mic is a great piece of kit, this would look great in any setup. Simrace247 shares its thoughts with a review.

So I was fortunate to be sent the HyperX Quadcast S condenser mic, before simrace247 gets into the details and thoughts of what I think, this is going to be a free flowing review that will tell it like it is.

Part of being an official gaming peripheral partner with HyperX is i get to check out some rather cool products and tell you all about them. One thing I will tell you right now straight off the bat is their products scream high quality and attention to detail.

Even before I get to the good stuff of the actual mic, I would like to point out the attention to the packaging, sitting in a braced mold, the mic and its accessories were well housed, HyperX wants you to feel like they care about everything with their products.

Compatability

The Quadcast S is compatible with the following

  • PC
  • Playstation
  • Mac

The Quadcast S Mic

After unpacking the mic, my first impression was I like, packed full of features and attention to detail this was a great looking mic that would fit in well with any setup. As standard it comes with its very own desk stand, but also an adapter to attach to a mic boom arm. A lengthy 3 meter braided USB Type A to Type C cable was provided ensuring you have no need for adapters to reach your point of connection, including a ferrite core to reduce electromagnetic interference. Above the Type C port on the mic is a 3.5mm headphone output port.

The mic itself has an exterior shock mount, a pop filter built inside, RGB lovers, you can feel comforted that it has plenty of tuning and lighting for your needs with the RGB built into the mic. Additional touches include a touch to mute function on top of the mic, it’s a sensor pad that works very well, with the RGB switching off when muted to notify that it has been muted, tap it again and the RGB glows to let you know it has been unmuted. On the lower side of the mic is a gain adjustment to adjust the input volume in various situations nice and easily.

One of the key standout features is the Polar Pattern Selection for how your mic picks up input from voices etc, to simplify for those and what that means. It has selections on how the mic picks up input from different directions around it, if you have a group of people around a table for a Podcast, you can select it so it pics up the voices from all angles. Or, if you are a solo streamer you can select to just pick up your voice from 1 direction. Below is how this all works.

Polar Pattern Selection

After having different conversations with many people, the feedback from my voice input and clarity was noted as clear and easy to hear. One concern I had was as good as it looks, was it going to do a great job for those who I would be talking to on the receiving end, but as mentioned, that box was ticked, so great job there HyperX.

RGB

As mentioned before, this mic has built in RGB, whilst it looks really cool and can be set up to your liking in the NGENUITY software app, I have a small gripe with it. It’s not a deal breaker, but just an observation. The lighting source is shining down from the top, and upwards from the bottom where it is all illuminated within the pop fillter, making those areas brighter than the central part of the mic. Like I mentioned, you have to really focus to notice it, and should not be a deterrent to making a purchase.

Evaluation

The HyperX Quadcast S mic is a great mic that would fit very well into any type of setup up you have, it looks and sounds very good with easy functionality. Would I recommend it? absolutely.
