Our great league partner over at CMS has had a busy few days of racing, we catch up with the events and race reports in rFactor 2.

CMS has been super busy with racing in rFactor 2, as many will know, putting on the events and organising can be a very busy thing. Here we see how the past week has been with races and brought up to speed with their race reports.

Both the NARS and VWSC leagues returned to modern-day Hypercar and GT racing with a visit to Portimao while the MNRL continued their popular TA U2 series with a pair of races at Mid-Ohio.

The MNRL kicked things off with 16 drivers taking their Datsun 510s through 2 races. It was Jason Whited taking the checkered flag in R1 with Eduardo Beninca and Joe Miller rounding out the podium while Steve Carman took the top Seniors Division placing. In R2, Eduardo Beninca swapped places with Jason Whited to claim the victory while Steve Carman again topped the Seniors with a 3rd place finish overall in the race. After a break week, the MNRL will be racing these fun cars at Watkins Glen on 22 Feb.

After an exciting start at Daytona, 34 drivers took the green flag at Portimao for R2 of the 13 race series. A circuit that is not often visited in simracing, it produced high quality racing as drivers and teams continue to settle into their car choices in this exciting and very popular SGS mod.

It was Daniel Kirby in a Mercedes AMG 1 that took top honours in the race and the HC PRO win, with Ben Boorman in his Aston Martin Valkyrie and Jon Uyan in a Bugatti Bolide taking 2nd and 3rd respectively. Jerry Chen and Lanny Hall, both in Lamborghini SCV12s topped the HC AM field, with the Bolide of Ross Smith claiming 3rd. Eduardo Beninca in Lexus RCF, George Angelidis in an Acura NSX, and James Walker in a McLaren 720s led the GT PRO field in a tight contest and it was another Acura, that of Stuart Barge that led the AM field, besting closest challengers Paul Ibbotson in a Lamborghini Huracan and Stephen Miller in another 720s.

Inspired by the earlier NARS race, it was a 42- car field that arrived to compete for the win at Portimao 2 days later. After a very tightly contested Q session (top 6 separated by just over 1s total), the green flag racing produced lots of exciting action from start to finish – not to mention it’s share of drama as drivers such as Miquel Ramos , Jason Whited and Ben Boorman led the HC field while Shawn Jacobs and Jeremy Talbot dominated the field in GT. Of particular note was Jerry Chen putting the rest of the Hypercar AM field firmly behind him as he raced even a number of Hypercar PRO contenders such as Norm Graf .

The final results saw Wouter de Bruijn in a Pagani Imola take the checkered flag with the Bugatti of Jon Uyan in hot pursuit on the final laps with the Valkyrie of Miquel Ramos falling into 3rd after a late DT penalty. It was Jerry Chen’s Lamborghini by a lap over second place Ross Smith in a Valkyrie with Eric Moinet’s Lamborghini just behind to take the final podium position in field.

Picking up top GT points were the McLarens of Shawn Jacobs and Jeremy Talbot followed by the Audi R8 of Ahmed Abdalla while in GT AM Tom Lane’s Ford Mustang took top spot over the Aston Martin Vantage of Matt Buice and Bentley Continental of Craig Danz.

Next race for NARS will be the SC2018X series at Talledega Superspeedway on 17 Feb while the VWSC drivers ready themselves to take on Sebring in the WSC 91 series on 5 Mar.
