Team simrace247 Takes A New Direction

  • by

Here at simrace247.com we love our sim racing, we are proud to be part of great sim racing communities as well as supporting them with leagues and more. Our racing division is taking a new direction.

As some may know our iRacing race team has been very successful in the races it has entered. With success comes changes (although not broken) we have decided to hand the reigns of the team over to Darren Buckner.

Paul Velasco will be stepping down as team principal: “After my spell trying to build the team and managing it, the time has come for me to fully focus on my own sim racing.”

He will still have a role within the team as a race driver and looking forward to the events more.

New team principal Darren Buckner goes on to mention “The service and commitment Paul has put into the team has been full of elation and success. The right time has come for him to step back and enjoy his racing more.

“I wish to thank him for seeing my vision for the future and to continue the new age and era of the team in GT cars”. Retaining his position within the team John Henri Vaughan continues to impress with a “maintained focus” and consistent attitude.

New driver Dan Babic from Croatia has been brought into the team with a wealth of racing experience. Having driven 500+ races on iRacing over the years and focusing on becoming a safe driver that has perfect control of the car when in traffic.

Dan said: “I am looking forward to the first endurance race for the simrace247”. Dan has taken part in various endurance races before such as the 24hr of Daytona, twice competing in the 24hrs of Nurburgring and Le mans 24hr event.

Accompanying the team is Dutch driver Yvonne van den berg (whom you may know from women in sim racing here at simrace247). Yvonne will be taking part in some of the events as she has a busy schedule in ACC and the “more female racers” project with Thea Musante.

The first race with the new faces of the team will be at Watkins Glen 6hr endurance June 18-24
