iRacing Bathurst 12 Hour: Record entries for big weekend

iRacing and its 140,000 or so subscribers are braced for a bumper weekend of virtual racing at the iconic Mount Panorama for the pixel version of the Bathurst 12 Hours GT3 endurance race.

Virtual racing’s leading platform has had a huge boost in drivers using the service, and as a result this year’s running of the race is likely to break all records in terms of drivers and teams entered.

Last month’s iRacing Daytona 24 Hours on racing was plagued with problems with technical issues causing long delays while many drivers and teams simply failed to make the race to much disappointment and frustration.

Starting tonight the service will be tested to full capacity once again, with hundreds of thousands of subscribers dependent on iRacing having resolved the issues that surfaced during the Daytona 24 Hours weekend.

Over 10,000 teams are expected to register, the virtual race mimicking the real-life edition with a night start which is sure to make the first stint a huge challenge in the dark, slippery conditions in a traffic jam up the Mountain.

An adventure of joy and despair awaits all that connect in what is one of the great events of sim racing which, only iRacing are capable of hosting thanks to the unmatched ranking system and organised online racing the service offers.

Ahead of the 2021 Bathurst 12-Hours Special Event, iRacing announced:

Fans of endurance racing, and especially of the legendary Mount Panorama Circuit, can get their fix of both this weekend with the return of the iRacing Bathurst 12HR. Featuring four-time slots and seven of the world’s premier GT3s, the second major team event of 2021 is an annual staple of the iRacing special events calendar.

The seven-car lineup features the iRacing Bathurst 12HR debuts of the BMW M4 GT3 Prototype and Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO, both of which were released in December. They join the Audi R8 LMS, Ferrari 488, Ford GT, McLaren MP4-12C, and Mercedes AMG on the grid.

Time slots for the 2021 iRacing Bathurst 12HR are as follows:

  • Friday, February 26, 22:00 GMT
  • Saturday, February 27, 7:00 GMT
  • Saturday, February 27, 12:00 GMT
