The video of the Dallara P217 puts the incredible sounding V8 on show as it pounds around Detroit’s Belle Isle street circuit.
The new release was originally teased back in July when iRacing released an image of the 3D modelling for the P217. Now we get a much better look at the car in the virtual flesh. The Dallara P217, which is seen above gracing the Silverstone circuit, looks to be in advanced development, perhaps already completed.
The Dallara P217 has been competing in LMP2 since 2017 up against the likes of Oreca and Alpine. With the LMP2 regulations reaching the end of their lifecycle, it makes sense for the car to finally make it’s way to the sim. iRacing work with engineers when it comes to collating data and laser scanning cars to create a virtual replica. The amount of detail is so immense that manufacturers don’t want to give their rivals the edge.
iRacing have also announced that the Cheverolet C7 DP and HPD ARX 01-C LMP2 will become Legacy Content. With the upgrade to the P217, it was expected the HPD would be retired, making way for the new LMP2 at Le Mans but there was no word on the C7. It now looks likely that the Dallara will replace the Daytona Prototype in IMSA as well meaning both major endurance series will be updated.
