rFactor2: Iconic Jordan 191 available free on steam

The Jordan 191, one of the most iconic cars in Formula history and arguably the prettiest, has been released by ASR Formula modding team to add to their remarkable collection of eighties and nineties cars available free for rFactor 2 on Steam and for Assetto Corsa.

The 191 was the first car built by Eddie Jordan’s operation at Silverstone, designed by Gary Anderson for the team’s debut 1991 season in the top flight. Its best finish was in Canada and Mexico, where Andrea de Cesaris drove it to fourth place at both races while Bertrand Gachot set the fastest lap of the 1991 Hungarian Grand Prix.

But most famously it was the car that a young Michael Schumacher was drafted in (at a fee paid by Mercedes to Jordan) to replace Gachot who was serving time for a taxi driver punch-up in London. Schumacher stunned in his first qualifying, despite never having set foot in the car and also never raced around the daunting Spa-Francorchamps the German qualified seventh, faster than veteran regular driver Andrea de Cesaris in the sister car.

Two weeks later, Schumi and his minders had contrived a plan (big money changed hands) to extract the 22-year-old (at the time) from Jordan and pluck him into the Benetton team run by Flavio Briatore and, as they say, the rest is history! Go sample it with a drive in the Jordan 191 which simply adds to one of the best virtual F1 experiences you can have.
